Section #1 - The American Civil War: 1861-65
Chapter 19: Corinth Falls to the Union
Corinth, Mississippi, is the site of a junction between two critical railroad lines for the South, the Mobile and Ohio and the Memphis and Charleston.
The Union’s delayed attempt to take the city begins on April 29, 1862, with HQ General Henry Halleck appearing in the field for his one and only time.
A month-long siege of the city ends on May 30 when General Beauregard surrenders. Western Tennessee now belongs to the Union.
