Chapter 126: Florida demands the surrender of Ft. Pickens.

The fort guards the entrance to Mobile Harbor and is commanded by a mere Lieutenant, Adam Slemmer. Like Anderson, he is without orders from DC, but readies his own defenses which deprive the Confederates throughout the war.
