Chapter 123: A re-supply ship headed to Sumter is driven away by cannon fire.

With Lincoln still on the sidelines back in Springfield, General Scott advises Buchanan to send a re-supply ship to Ft. Sumter. The merchant side-wheeler Star of the West heads out on January 5, 1861 and arrives east of the harbor on January 9.

Once there it is fired upon by batteries at Ft. Moultrie and turns back home.
