Section #1 - Three Days At Gettysburg
Chapter 13: Day One: 7:30–8:00 AM
John Buford has been drawn to Gettysburg for the same reason as Lee – to provide a possible concentration hub for the full army.
In scouting the area he also knows that protecting the high ground to the south of town along Cemetery Ridge will be crucial if fighting occurs. So when Heth strikes, he sets out to delay the Confederates until reinforcements can arrive.
