Section #1 - Three Days At Gettysburg

Chapter 12: The Main Armies Converge on Gettysburg

The Confederate troops are scattered in a semi-circle around the town on June 30. To the west are Longstreet’s I Corps at Chambersburg, and Hill’s III Corps between Hagerstown and Cashton. Elements of Ewell’s II Corps are north at Carlisle and east at York. Stuart’s missing cavalry is also east, around Hanover Junction.

Meanwhile the entire Union Army approaches Gettysburg from the South.

The three day clash that follows at Gettysburg will play out from Wednesday, July 1 to Friday, July 3. Temperatures range between a low of 72 degrees on Day One to a high of 87 degrees on the afternoon of Day Three.
