Justice Roger Wayne

Wayne serves in the War of 1812, then as Mayor of Savannah before election to the U.S. House before he becomes the last appointee to the John Marshall Supreme Court in January 1835, 10 weeks before the Chief passes. He serves the next 32 years, 29 in the Taney Court and 3 under Salmon Chase. He supports the Dred Scott ruling, but is a southern Unionist who opposes Secession and stays on the bench throughout the war.
