Helen Western

Born in 1844, Helen Western is remembered mainly for her romantic affair at age nineteen with the assassin, John Wilkes Booth. Her parents are actors, and Helen and her sister, Lucille, follow on as the “Star Sisters” in the play, Three Fast Men. Helen acts with Booth in Richmond in 1860, playing Juliet to his Romeo in the Shakespeare play. Their romance follows, and when Booth is hunted down and killed in 1865, four cdv photographs of former lovers are found on his person: actresses Fanny Brown.
