This medallion is created by photographer J.R. Rockwell in Petersburg in 1865. It captures the 12 men who were on Lee’s staff at Appomattox. Most notable among them are his Adjutant General, Walter Taylor, his two Aide-de-Camps, Charles Venable and Charles Marshall; Chief of Artillery, William Pendelton; Chief of Engineers, W.H. Stevens and Chief of Ordinance, G.G. Baldwin. The back of the card says: “presented from T.P. Boisseau to D. Rufus Rainey on September 10, 1868.
